Aluminium entrance doors
The entrance door is the only position in the house where security and appearance compete for the same budget. Here is which equipment actually does the job.
What RC2 and RC3 mean
RC classes (Resistance Class) measure how long a door resists a burglar with a given set of tools. RC2 means resistance to attack with simple tools — a screwdriver, pliers. RC3 goes a step further and covers a crowbar.
For a flat in a building with an intercom, RC2 is a reasonable level. For a house with a yard, especially if it is set back from the street, RC3 pays.
The class applies to the whole assembly — leaf, frame, lock, hardware, and installation. A door with an RC3 leaf fitted into a weak frame is not RC3.
The lock matters more than the leaf
- An automatic lock. It locks every point as soon as the door closes, without turning the key. It removes the most common failure — a door left unlocked.
- Multi-point locking. Bolts along the full height of the leaf, not a single latch in the middle.
- The cylinder. The weakest point of most doors. Look for protection against drilling and pulling.
- A fingerprint reader. Convenience, not security — useful when you are carrying a bag in both hands.
Why aluminium on an entrance door
An entrance door takes more than any other position: sun on one side, heating on the other, and several thousand openings a year. Aluminium does not move with a change in temperature, so the leaf does not bow and the door does not stop sitting properly after two years.
It also carries the weight that an infill with good insulation and security reinforcement requires — and it still opens with one finger.
What we make
- Made to measure, up to 2.5 m in height
- Concealed hinges — nothing visible on the outside that can be used as a purchase
- An automatic lock, with the option of unlocking by fingerprint
- LED lighting built into the leaf
- The full RAL range, matt and textured finishes
- A 10-year guarantee
Price
Entrance doors cannot be priced from a table — the difference between a basic panel and a door with an automatic lock, a fingerprint reader, and LED lighting is several times over. We give a quote after measuring, with prices excluding installation.
At the measuring visit you can also see the state of the frame and the opening, which on entrance doors often decides half the job.
